Path of Exile 2 standalone launcher fails to patch with OptiScaler v0.9.2–v0.9.4, while v0.9.0 works #1099

Description

@squall-cyber

Game name and version:

Path of Exile 2, standalone client / standalone launcher, current live version.

Mods and mod versions used:

Tested OptiScaler v0.9.0-final, v0.9.2, v0.9.3, and v0.9.4-final.
No Fakenvapi, Nukem, ReShade, DLSS Enabler, or other game mods were used.

GPU:

AMD Radeon 8060S Graphics (RDNA 3.5 iGPU / Strix Halo).

OS:

Windows 11.

Used automated or manual install?

Manual installation.

If on AMD/Intel and Automated, used DLSS inputs?

Not applicable. I used manual installation and tested both DLSS and XeSS as in-game inputs with v0.9.0.

Did you check the Wiki and Compatibility List?

Yes. I checked the Path of Exile 2 page, Manual Installation, Known Issues, and the FSR4 Compatibility List.

Please describe the issue and steps to reproduce it:

Only OptiScaler v0.9.0-final allows the standalone Path of Exile 2 launcher to patch and launch normally.

With a clean game folder and after removing all previous OptiScaler files, simply copying the complete official OptiScaler v0.9.2, v0.9.3, or v0.9.4 release files into the PathOfExile_x64.exe folder causes the standalone launcher to fail before the game starts.

The launcher error is:

"Failed writing received data to disk/application (Failure writing output to destination)"

This happens during launcher patching/downloading, before the game executable starts and before any OptiScaler overlay can appear.

I tested each version separately:

  • v0.9.0-final: launcher patches and game launches normally.
  • v0.9.2: launcher patch fails with the error above.
  • v0.9.3: launcher patch fails with the error above.
  • v0.9.4-final: launcher patch fails with the error above.

For every test, I removed all OptiScaler-related files first and used the complete official release package. I did not mix files from different OptiScaler versions.

The game launcher works normally again after removing the OptiScaler files from v0.9.2/v0.9.3/v0.9.4.

With v0.9.0, I can open the OptiScaler overlay and select FSR 4.1.1, but the FSR watermark reports:
"FSR3 UPSCALE - SOURCE: DRIVER"
Therefore FSR4.1.1 appears to fall back to FSR3 on this RDNA 3.5 iGPU.

Could you please advise:

  1. Which specific file(s) introduced in v0.9.2+ can cause the PoE2 standalone launcher patch/write failure?
  2. Is there a supported installation method for Path of Exile 2 standalone launcher users with v0.9.4?
  3. Is FSR4.1.1 INT8 expected to work on AMD Radeon 8060S / RDNA 3.5 iGPU in v0.9.4, and which INI settings are required?

I have attached:

  • Screenshot of the standalone launcher error.
  • Screenshot of the OptiScaler v0.9.0 overlay.
  • Screenshot showing the FSR3 UPSCALE - SOURCE: DRIVER watermark.
  • I can provide OptiScaler.log if needed.
