ACME is a quality of life mod for Animal Crossing for the Nintendo GameCube. It stays as close to vanilla as possible, just smoothing out interactions slighty with UI conveniences and making all available content accessible to the player.
All changes are surrounded by the ACME tag and have comments to explain what they do. Other modders are encouraged to copy these changes over to their own projects and tweak them to their liking.
- D-Pad support for menus and dialogue.
- Speed up/automatically continue text with L/R.
- Previously seen text can be sped through slightly faster (skips set pauses in dialogue).
- D-Pad shortcuts for switching tools and putting the current tool away.
- Only donatable items can be selected when donating to the museum.
- Slighlty faster inventory cursor that buffers inputs.
- Extend max in-game year to 2099.
- Trees can now be shaken while holding a net or fishing rod.
- Letter grading less harsh on long sentences.
- Slightly easier to clean Gracie's car.
- Can control camera outdoors.
- Can send multiple letters at once.
- Picked-up Bells now go directly into your wallet when there is enough room.
- Automatic word wrapping when writing letter/bulletin board/diary.
- Cursor wraps vertically when selecting letter recipient.
- Can still progress villager quests if they are inside an igloo.
- Balloons will target a new tree if it missed the first one.
- Can put multiple items into closets at once.
- Butterflies can land on any type of flower.
- Can go to Animal Island without a GBA connected.
- Save files can be freely copied/moved to a different memory card.
- Nookington's upgrade doesn't require multiplayer.
- Items exclusive to external devices/codes are now regularly obtainable:
- All NES games
- Mario furniture
- Animal island furniture
- Villager-exclusive clothes
The build also includes all the bugfixes identified and fixed by the Animal Crossing Decompilation team. They are identified with the BUGFIXES tag. Some notable bugs in the original game include:
- Unable to receive oranges as a foreign fruit gift from villagers
- Saplings looking at the wrong acres for their neighbour checks
- Cherry blossom weather doesn't appear.
- Incorrect acre treates as the dump for town rating.
- Snail flies away when released.
You need to supply your own version of Animal Crossing for the GameCube. Only GAFE01_00: Rev 0 (USA) is supported.
Download the .xdelta patch and apply it to your rom. You can use this site if you don't have the tools.
