What a reader gets

Someone reading the dsh example, or the 0.7.8 changelog, sees what has actually run with a real dsh and at what scope, instead of "checked against a stand-in agent only".

The change

  • CHANGELOG.md, [0.7.8] Known limits: "No harness has run end to end under the contract yet" was already wrong when 0.7.8 shipped. Its release testing ran a real dsh 0.2.1-rc.2 through the shipped example runner for a person's allow-once and reject-once, and through an outside runner (dsh-seat 0.3.0) for launch, queue work, multiline input, activity, cancel and exact resume. The published 0.7.8 release notes already say so. The wrong sentence stays visible and struck, with the correction after it.
  • dsh.yaml, first limit: this runner has run with a real dsh on two stacks.
    • dsh's Claude route with a Claude Haiku model, in 0.7.8's release testing with that release's copy of this runner: an allow-once and a reject-once.
    • dsh's pi-ai OpenRouter chat-completions profile with deepseek/deepseek-v4-flash, on OpenRig 0.7.8: queue work, activity through a quiet tool call, an allow-once and a reject-once, and cancel.
    • Who answered the permission requests: in both runs, a test answerer registered as a person, not a live person.
    • What failed: in the second run, dsh's DeepSeek Messages adapter pointed at OpenRouter failed with HTTP 400, and the cause isn't established.
    • What isn't checked: any other dsh route or model.
  • dsh.yaml, resume: resume stays undeclared. A real dsh reopened and recalled a conversation after down, snapshot and up, with resume added to a copy of this preset. A missing conversation's refusal hasn't been run. The rest of that limit is unchanged.
  • harness-runner-contract.md, native runs: its block covers 0.7.8's release testing, against a Claude Haiku model, so its "Not shown natively: a DeepSeek model" stays true for that scope. A new "Since 0.7.8, on one stack" paragraph after it says what the dsh example runner has run on since, and that the preset still declares no resume.

Why correct the old changelog section in place

The [0.7.8] section disagrees with the published 0.7.8 release notes. The only thing in the repository that reads CHANGELOG.md is the packing test's presence check. Putting the correction in a later release's section would leave the historical entry wrong for anyone reading 0.7.8's limits.

Scope

  • Text only, in three files. The runner and the preset's declared fields (runner, launch_result, first_input, no resume) are unchanged.
  • The edited limits parse as plain strings. packages/daemon/test/community-harness-dsh-example.test.ts passes locally (44 of 44), including the case that loads this preset and expects resume left undeclared.
  • This doesn't claim support for any other dsh adapter, provider or model, or live-person answers.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Updated release notes and harness guidance with real-runner test results for dsh and dsh-seat, covering queue work, activity, allow-once and reject-once responses, cancellation, and resume behavior.
    • Clarified that the conformance check still uses a stand-in agent, and that missing-conversation refusal remains untested.
    • Recorded an unconfirmed DeepSeek Messages adapter issue on OpenRouter and an observed resume-and-recall result.

The dsh example and the 0.7.8 changelog still said the example had only
been checked against a stand-in agent, and that resume waited for a real
dsh to reopen and recall a conversation. Both are out of date.

- CHANGELOG [0.7.8] Known limits: strike the "no harness has run end to
end" line and say what 0.7.8's release testing ran with a real dsh.
- dsh.yaml: name the one stack this runner has run on with a real dsh,
what was covered, the Messages route that failed, and that other
  providers and models aren't checked.
- dsh.yaml: resume stays undeclared. A real dsh reopened and recalled a
conversation with resume added to a copy of the preset, but a missing
  conversation's refusal hasn't been run.

Walkthrough

The 0.7.8 release notes and dsh documentation now report real-dsh test runs, covered workflows, resume behavior, and untested cases. The release notes also state that the conformance check uses a stand-in agent.

The runner contract's native-runs block covers 0.7.8's release testing,
where no DeepSeek model ran. Say what the dsh example runner has run on
since, on one stack, and that the preset still declares no resume.

Comment thread CHANGELOG.md Resolved
0.7.8's release testing already ran this example runner with a real
dsh on its Claude route with a Claude Haiku model, for an allow-once
and a reject-once. The preset's first limit said "one stack only".
Name both stacks with their scope, say that in both the permission
answers came from a test answerer rather than a live person, and say
that no other dsh route or model is checked.

Approved at 058f1ed. The dsh example's limits, the runner contract and the 0.7.8 changelog now say what has run with a real dsh and at what scope (dsh's Claude route with Haiku in 0.7.8's release testing, and one OpenRouter deepseek-v4-flash stack), with resume still undeclared. Required CI passes at this head.
