What a user gets

The docs note and test you agreed on #165, for the deliveryOutcome half. There's no product code change.

The note is in docs/as-built/architecture/coordination-primitive.md, next to the paragraph on wake results. It says:

  • deliveryOutcome is the gateway (human-delivery) ledger. It's null for a task delivered only to an agent's pane, and can be set when the task also has a gateway or human-notification side.
  • For the pane side, read lastNudgeWireResult (the stored transport observation), lastNudgeResult (the presented result, including claimed), claimedAt and pickup.
  • A claim isn't proof that the body was read or that the terminal render was verified, and closing isn't a new delivery receipt. It quotes the CLI's existing wording: "Terminal receipt unconfirmed, but the seat has claimed the item (claimed)." and "A claim shows the seat took the item; it does not prove the body was read."

How you verified it

New test: packages/cli/test/queue-pane-delivery-outcome.test.ts. It starts the daemon in process (createDaemon, as queue-destination-advisory.test.ts does) and drives an agent's pane task through the CLI's own commands and the daemon's routes and repository: create --verify, then claim and update --state done as the destination seat, then show. The only simulated part is the pane send: the transport reports the wake as sent with its render unconfirmed. The test asserts what main does today:

  • create --verify reports a terminal receipt to an agent, delivered-ack-pending.
  • After the claim and close, show, getById and list all read deliveryOutcome: null, lastNudgeResult: "claimed", lastNudgeWireResult: "delivered-ack-pending", the claim's claimedAt and pickup.state: "terminal". The stored column still holds delivered-ack-pending.
  • One wake went to the destination, and no gateway receipt note was written.
  • The CLI's receipt for the closed row (waitForDeliveryOutcome) is a terminal receipt to an agent: outcome claimed, no gateway side, no humanReadership, and the two sentences quoted above.

It passed on main at b1c78c6 with only the test added, so main's state, claim and wire behaviour match the note.

Checks, on macOS with Node 22.19.0 at b1c78c6 plus this change:

  • npm run build and npm run lint: both pass.
  • The repository checks for docs: check-docs-guard.mjs, generate-context-packs.mjs --check, check-first-run-references.mjs and mirror-skills.mjs --check: all pass.
  • The new test with the other CLI queue tests (11 files): 298 passed, 1 skipped.
  • The daemon's queue-* tests (26 files): 662 passed.

I didn't run the full npm test or the UI suite. I didn't run this against a live seat; the pane send is simulated.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Clarified how delivery outcomes distinguish gateway receipts from pane wake and pickup status, including when an outcome is unavailable or no receipt is received.
    • Explained that claiming a task records pickup but does not confirm it was read or rendered, and that closing a task does not create a delivery receipt.
    • Documented the rig queue create --verify messages shown for claimed items and unconfirmed claim results.

… claimed and closed task (mvschwarz#165)

deliveryOutcome is the gateway (human-delivery) ledger: null for a task
delivered only to an agent's pane, and can be set when the task also has a
gateway or human-notification side. The as-built coordination note now says
so and names the pane fields: lastNudgeWireResult (stored), lastNudgeResult
(presented, including claimed), claimedAt and pickup. A claim is not proof the
body was read, and closing is not a new delivery receipt.

The new CLI test runs an agent's pane task through the daemon's routes and
repository and the CLI's create --verify, claim, update and show, with only the
pane send simulated. It pins main's current behaviour; no product code changes.

📝 Walkthrough

The documentation distinguishes gateway delivery outcomes from pane wake and claim status. An integration test checks the recorded state and receipt after a pane task is woken, claimed, and closed.

Thanks, @alxledesma, for picking this up so quickly. The note and test are accurate and the right size: we checked each sentence of the note against the code on main, the test goes through the real daemon, repository and CLI path with only the pane send simulated, and it changes no product code.

One wording change: "A claimed task that is later closed still reads claimed" is true only when its stored result was unconfirmed (delivered-ack-pending or indeterminate:…); a verified or failed:… result reads as stored. The bullet above states that condition, but this sentence can be read on its own. Please qualify it, for example "…still reads claimed when its stored result was unconfirmed". That's the only change; after your push, we'll check that line.

… result was unconfirmed (mvschwarz#165)

Review: qualify the closed-task sentence and the --verify description; a verified or failed result reads as stored.

Thanks, @mvschwarz. Done in 8fb187c: the closed-task sentence now says a claimed task reads claimed only when its stored result was unconfirmed (delivered-ack-pending or indeterminate:…), and that a verified or failed:… result reads as stored. I qualified the rig queue create --verify description the same way (CodeRabbit flagged it too): the "(claimed)" line is printed only for such an unconfirmed, claimed item, while the "a claim does not prove the body was read" line is printed for any claimed item. No other changes.

Approved at 8fb187c. The coordination-primitive note now says which fields answer pane delivery: a claimed task that is later closed still reads claimed only when its stored result was unconfirmed (delivered-ack-pending or indeterminate:…), and a verified or failed:… result reads as stored; rig queue create --verify prints the "(claimed)" line only for such an unconfirmed, claimed item, and the "a claim does not prove the body was read" line for any claimed item. Each sentence matches main's code, and a test drives a woken, claimed and closed task through the real path. Docs and test only; required CI passed at this head.

Thanks, @alxledesma, for the quick wording change; #1277 is merged. The note in our coordination docs now says exactly which delivery result a claimed, closed task shows: claimed only when its stored result was unconfirmed, and a verified or failed:… result as stored. It also says when rig queue create --verify prints its claimed lines, and the new test drives a woken, claimed and closed task through the real daemon and CLI, with only the pane send simulated. #165 stays open. It isn't in a published release yet.
