Make proper tests

Testing on real infrastructure (or even a local test rig) is not sufficient. We need to mock out etcd and run automated tests. Lack of this is a bug, IMO.

I do want to be able to run our test suite against real etcd before releasing to production. If that means our test suite requires etcd, that might be fine. It'd be neat to not require it, but I'm not sure the tests are real tests until we test against real etcd anyway. Josh and I talked about it a bit and I'm not completely sure where we'll land. The fewer external daemons needed to run tests the better, if all else is equal. Josh thinks it's possible we might be able to wire the etcd daemon right into our tests, or at least that it could be possible. He's working on that and hopefully he'll update on that soon. We agree that lack of tests is hindering our progress.
