Aves does not detect new or changed photos after the app is launched

Steps to reproduce

When Aves starts, the text "Loading" appears briefly under the selected home's text. I assume that is when Aves "becomes aware" of which photos and videos to display. Unfortunately, I have not found any function for manual refresh.

For testing:

1. Start Aves
2. Copy an image file from a folder ("album") visible in Aves to another folder visible in Aves, but do the copy with an external file manager.
3. The copied image is not displayed by Aves (except possibly after an extremely long time).
4. Stop Aves completely (remove from memory) and then restart Aves.
5. Now the copied image is displayed.

Test of the real problem (editing photos):

1. Start Aves
2. Edit some image, which in Aves must be done with an external photo editor.
3. After editing, save the image and return to Aves.
4. Aves does not display the edited new image (or the updated image).
5. Stop Aves completely (remove it from memory) and then restart Aves.
6. The edited image is now displayed, either as a new image or an edited version of an image.

Expected results

Edited images should be visible directly in Aves without the need to restart the App.

Actual results

You have to restart Aves (after removing it from memory) for edited photos to become visible in Aves.

the media files inside the folder were not properly registered by the app that created them,

Your external file manager is not doing its job properly.

Then, e.g., the Photo Editor Snapseed is not doing its job properly either, since the effect is identical. Please read my text properly: "For testing".
Using an external file manager was just for testing, but I understand that it is an irrelevant test. But it should be relevant that the effect is the same when editing photos, though it is at least very confusing when the edited photo is not showing up in Aves.

I saw the two workflows, but it's the same thing.
Anyway, I just tried with Snapseed and the saved image appears right away in Aves.

Aves gets Media Store state at launch, and then listens to changes notified from the Media Store. I suspect your Media Store is slower to notify changes, given you're on Android 10.

If you're in Aves and take a screenshot, do you see the screenshot appear in Aves soon after?

Yes, when I have the album "Screenshots" selected in Aves and take a screenshot, it shows up after barely a second.

In this message, I have attached 8 screenshots to illustrate the differences between the default gallery app on the Huawei P30 Pro and Aves. Both apps are launched and run in parallel, but I am initiating photo editing from within Aves.

I open the photo in Aves and click the pen icon for editing.

I select the photo editor app from the upper-right corner because it saves the edited photo to the same folder (album).

In the default gallery app, the newly created (edited) photo appears immediately, even though the editing was initiated in Aves and performed in an external app.

However, the newly created photo does not appear in Aves.

I have to close and relaunch Aves for the newly created photo to become visible in Aves. Is this related to the "Loading" text briefly appearing when launching Aves? If there were a way to force Aves to "reload" manually instead of killing and relaunching it, that would help.

I tried to reproduce the issue on an Android 10 emulator, and it worked fine. Whatever I used as an editor (Snapseed, Google Photos, Markup), the edited photo appeared right away. And comparing the logs from the emulator and the logs you have attached, I see the same app lifecycle sequence, and even logs for the Media Store refresh, but no Aves DB update in your case.
