Motivation

The owner rejected the minimal band-aid config and demanded the real strict config metagenda had since 2024. History search found it: cli/eslint.config.mjs and bot/eslint.config.mjs at 00ff6e3 (flat format, strictTypeChecked). The earlier 'proven nonexistent' finding searched only for .eslintrc and missed the flat .mjs configs.

Solution

Ported cli/eslint.config.mjs to the repo root, preserving the exact preset stack (eslint.configs.recommended + strictTypeChecked + stylisticTypeChecked) and both original rule relaxations (no-non-null-assertion off, restrict-template-expressions off). Root-scope adaptations: ignores for packages/, tooling/, test files; type-checked linting scoped to pi/**/*.ts with parserOptions.project = pi/extensions/tsconfig.json (arrives with the extension infrastructure).

Validation

Source-assertion suite 4/4 green (preset stack, both relaxations, parser project, pi-tree scope). Independent review APPROVED against git show 00ff6e3:cli/eslint.config.mjs: identical preset order, relaxations narrowed not widened, ignores justified. Commit c501074 single-commit on master 8e0d10d.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Chores
    • Added stricter automated code-quality checks for TypeScript code, including type-aware and stylistic rules.
  • Tests
    • Added checks to verify the linting rules and TypeScript analysis settings are applied as configured.

Test the effective ESLint configuration instead of source text.

These assertions only inspect text. They can pass when source fragments occur in comments or when the exported configuration does not apply them to the intended files. Load the exported configuration and inspect the effective rules for a pi TypeScript file and a file outside the pi override. Check both rule relaxations, project selection, and the intended pi scope through the effective configuration.

Superseded by #89: the root-level eslint devDependencies in 4661c40 broke the work-core Nix check (sandboxed bun cache EACCES, jobs hung to cancellation). #89 delivers the same strict config with the dependencies correctly scoped to the pi/extensions package.
