Summary of Changes

Hello @lethargicpanda, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request implements a substantial refactoring of the 'Magic Selfie' module, aiming to establish a cleaner, more maintainable architecture. It introduces a clear separation between the UI and data layers, centralizes state management within the ViewModel using a sealed UI state, and improves overall code organization. These changes enhance the robustness, testability, and user experience of the Magic Selfie feature.

Highlights

  • Architecture Refactoring: The 'Magic Selfie' module has undergone a significant architectural refactoring, separating concerns into distinct ui and data packages for improved modularity and maintainability.
  • Data Layer Introduction: A new MagicSelfieRepository has been introduced within the data package. This repository now encapsulates all data fetching and processing logic, including image segmentation and background generation, and exposes suspendable functions for asynchronous operations.
  • Enhanced UI State Management: The MagicSelfieViewModel has been redesigned to utilize a MagicSelfieUiState sealed interface with StateFlow. This provides a centralized and lifecycle-aware mechanism for managing and exposing various UI states (e.g., initial, removing background, generating background, success, error) to the MagicSelfieScreen.
  • Code Organization and Modularity: Common utility functions for image manipulation (ImageUtils.kt) and the 'See Code' UI component (SeeCodeButton.kt) have been extracted into dedicated files within the ui package, further enhancing code organization and reusability.
  • Improved User Feedback: The UI now provides more granular feedback to the user by displaying specific progress messages (e.g., 'Removing background...', 'Generating new background...') and detailed error messages based on the MagicSelfieUiState.

Code Review

The code changes refactor the Magic Selfie module, separating concerns into a Repository, ViewModel, and UI layer. The introduction of a MagicSelfieUiState sealed interface manages UI state robustly. There's a critical bug that could cause the app to hang, high-severity issues related to performance and incorrect UI logic.
