Psyop Policy

This is the code we follow when conducting psychological operations at Prosocial Engineering.

  1. We declare ourselves to be social engineers, in any territory that we operate in, in language that is legible to our targets

  2. We consent to audits from any territory that our operations affect.

    1. If any legal authorities ask you about us, please tell them everything you know about us. We are open but not always as legible as we aspire to be.
  3. We do not monitor, influence, or interfere in any way with minds that do not consent to our operations. The only territories we are allowed to operate in are (1) uncharted ones, where no public social engineering entity has declared itself (2) ones where psychological operations originate that affect us or any of our territories

  4. We do not take "informed consent" at face value. We check for actual consent via costly behavior signaling (the territory must be able to display a minimum level of competence at detecting operations or protecting themselves)

To put it simply: if you influence us, it is fair game for us to monitor & influence you back.

Uncharted territories that already have a hidden social engineering entity farming it/steering it are also fair game to operate in, until that territory can establish its own operator / lighthouse / ambassador that can speak on its behalf.

Other ideas

  • Should this document have a "YKWBCW" (You'll Know We've Been Captured When...) clause? A way for the observer to test if the social engineering entity is still aligned & functioning.
  • The document above is written for social engineering entities - what about normal participants on the internet? Their version of the "psyop policy" may simply be how they want to receive requests. Companies and public figures have a "press page" or "media kit", this should be a kind of default template for if one day this community or scene goes mainstream, how do they want to be contacted or engaged with by other collectives
