[Bug] /rename only changes the status line #1637

Description

@Dhirenderchoudhary

Description

/rename calls onRenameSession, which is setSessionName from React state (source/hooks/useAppState.tsx). It never calls sessionManager.renameSession, so titleManuallySet stays unset. Autosave then writes a title derived from the first user message whenever that flag is false (source/hooks/useSessionAutosave.ts).

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Start a session that already has a user message. Autosave is on by default.
  2. Run /rename Sprint planning.
  3. Wait for the next autosave, or quit so the shutdown flush runs.
  4. /resume and look at the title.

Expected Behavior

The session keeps the name you set.

Actual Behavior

The status line updates and the command says the session was renamed. The saved title goes back to the derived one.

Additional Context

  • I have searched existing issues to ensure this is not a duplicate
  • I can reproduce this issue consistently

    @deepcfr

    @addyCooks can i take this? the rename path missing sessionManager.renameSession + titleManuallySet looks like a small fix with a test. happy to put up a pr.

    Thanks for offering @deepcfr,
    We assign issues to whoever asks first,
    and @Dhirenderchoudhary asked two days ago, so this one is theirs.

    Have a look at the other issues, or open a new one if you've hit something else, and ask there.
    I'm happy to assign you.

    @deepcfr

    @addyCooks ohh thats fine man! i am eyeing for one issue but tbh having a tough time finding a new issue. the repo has become really crowded haha! i think i should properly use the app to find and open a new issue.
