This PR adds a basic desktop window on macOS and Windows. Running switchyard-desktop shows server health and recorded request and token counts for today and the seven local calendar days ending today.

The window provides buttons to refresh, open the server config, open the routing log, and quit. It refreshes automatically at the interval in desktop.toml and follows the system color scheme. A failed log read shows usage as unavailable. Invalid settings show an error in the window.

Usage

# The app opens the window with the default desktop.toml.
switchyard-desktop

# The app reads settings from a specific file.
switchyard-desktop /path/to/desktop.toml

# The command checks TOML syntax and exits.
switchyard-desktop --validate-toml /path/to/desktop.toml

The command accepts at most one settings file. A second positional file returns expected at most one settings file before the command reads either file or opens the window.

Refresh and file opening

The window retains one health probe and one log reader across refreshes. Blocking work runs on worker threads. Previously, clicking a file-opening button during a refresh returned an error. Each click now waits on a worker thread until the refresh finishes. The worker releases the shared mutex before asking the operating system to open the file.

Each click uses one worker task. The wait can include health checks and filesystem work, with no fixed overall timeout.

Scope

#1085 has merged, so this PR now targets main. Optional print output and pricing follow in #1086, and the TUI follows in #1087. Expanded pages, editors, accounts, sessions, and analytics come later.

The native window and file-opening actions still need manual confirmation on macOS and Windows.

This PR replaces #1114; the earlier review discussion remains there.

Walkthrough

The change adds a Tauri desktop application for macOS and Windows. Its command-line entry point resolves settings and starts the GUI. The GUI reports server health and usage, opens configuration and log files, and provides refresh and quit actions.

Changes

Desktop application

Layer / File(s) Summary
Desktop entry point and Tauri setup
crates/switchyard-desktop/Cargo.toml, crates/switchyard-desktop/build.rs, crates/switchyard-desktop/tauri.conf.json, crates/switchyard-desktop/src/main.rs, crates/switchyard-desktop/.gitignore
The package adds Tauri dependencies and configuration, builds Tauri on macOS and Windows, and adds a command-line entry point for settings resolution and platform-specific startup. The ignore file excludes /gen.
GUI state and commands
crates/switchyard-desktop/src/gui.rs
The Tauri backend adds a health and usage snapshot, configuration and log file opening, an application quit command, and command registration.
Status interface
crates/switchyard-desktop/ui/index.html, crates/switchyard-desktop/ui/basic.css, crates/switchyard-desktop/ui/basic.js
The page displays server status, URL, usage, and errors. Its controls refresh the snapshot, open configuration or log files, and quit the application.

File-opening buttons may need a retry during refresh, and supplying two settings paths can open the wrong installation. These bounded issues should be fixed or accepted by the owner before merging.

I rebased this onto main after #1085 merged and updated the description. I also added function documentation in response to the coverage warning. Formatting, JavaScript syntax, the local audit, and workspace Clippy passed. I did not run tests or manually open the native window in this update.
