added this pull request to stack #1393
October 10, 2026 00:24
- A validator that registers after launch must start or restart its node afterwards: hashi register does not write the node's next-epoch keys, so a node left running can be seated an epoch late. - A mainnet node needs its own empty db and its own backup-dir, not a testnet node's. - The testmempoolaccept withdrawal check and its two metrics are not in the 1.0 releases.

Stacked on #1392.
Summary
Three gaps a mainnet validator can hit that the runbook did not cover.
Changes
hashi registerrecords the registration but not the node's next-epoch BLS and encryption keys; the node writes those when it starts. A node that was already running when its validator registered can therefore miss the next committee formation and be seated an epoch late, so the section says to register and then start or restart. Five validators hit this on testnet-1.0.dband its ownbackup-dir. It also recommends new TLS and operator keys for mainnet.testmempoolacceptwithdrawal check and its twohashi_withdrawal_bitcoin_check_*metrics are documented but are not intestnet-1.0ormainnet-1.0. The runbook now says so.Verification
npm run buildindesign/passes and the new anchor resolves.mainnet-1.0commit: the register command passes no next-epoch keys, the node passes them at startup, and a node with no registration after genesis logs the quoted message.testmempoolacceptand both metrics have no occurrences in the source at that commit.
