ShowHiddenChannels

ShowHiddenChannels is a plugin for BetterDiscord that allows users to view information about hidden channels in a Discord server, such as their name, description and which roles or users have access to these hidden channels. Please note that this plugin will not allow you to read the messages in these channels, it will only show you information about them.

The original plugin by @rauenzi was discontinued and removed from the official BetterDiscordAddons repository, so this plugin was created to fill that void.

Channel names show up as "No Access"

Discord has rolled out the 2026-02-private-channel-hiding experiment, which hides private channels on the server side. If you are in it, Discord never sends the real channel names to your client, so every hidden channel shows up as "No Access". The plugin still starts normally and the console reports no error, because there is nothing left for it to read.

A bypass exists, but it would make the plugin detectable server-side, so it will not be shipped with the plugin.

You can opt yourself out of the experiment instead:

1. Get access to the experiments page. YABDP4Nitro has a setting that enables it, or paste this snippet into DevTools. On Vencord and Equicord, use their Experiments plugin.
2. Open Settings > Experiments, search for private-channel-hiding and select the 2026-02-private-channel-hiding entry.
3. Set the variant override to Not Eligible.
4. Fully close and reopen Discord.

If the channels are still hidden after restarting, try these in order:

• Switch the override to another variant, set it back to Not Eligible, then press Ctrl+R.
• Log out and log back in, so Discord invalidates the cached channel list.

How to Install

• Got to the releases page of this repository.
• Download the latest version of the plugin by clicking on the ShowHiddenChannels.plugin.js file.
• Move the downloaded ShowHiddenChannels.plugin.js file into your BetterDiscord plugins folder.
• Enable the ShowHiddenChannels plugin.
• Restart Discord to complete the installation.
• Enjoy the plugin!

In addition, you can also use the PermissionsViewer plugin by @rauenzi to see the channel permissions/access.
