Summary

Added explicit, step-by-step instructions to en/advanced/custom-themes.md explaining how users can select the base Theme, Color scheme, and apply a Custom theme via Preferences > General > Appearance. Also corrected minor hyphenation for consistency.

Steps to test

  1. Check the rendered diff on en/advanced/custom-themes.md.
  2. Verify that the numbered steps under ### How to apply a theme or custom theme accurately reflect navigating to File > Preferences > General > Appearance in JabRef.

Add theme application steps to custom theme guide

📝 Documentation 🕐 Less than 5 minutes

AI Description

• Adds step-by-step navigation for configuring themes in JabRef preferences.
• Explains how to select a theme, color scheme, and custom CSS file.
• Standardizes “user-contributed” hyphenation for consistency.
High-Level Assessment

The direct addition to the existing custom themes guide is optimal because it places application instructions beside the related theme concepts. Separate documentation or screenshots would add maintenance overhead without materially improving this concise workflow.

Document applying themes through Appearance preferences

• Adds a numbered workflow for selecting a base theme, color scheme, and custom CSS file under Preferences. Also hyphenates “user-contributed” for grammatical consistency.

en/advanced/custom-themes.md

* **Color scheme**: _Follow system_, _Light_, or _Dark_.
* **Custom theme**: a CSS file of your own. JabRef applies it _on top_ of the selected theme and color scheme, so it only needs to contain what you want to change.
