Checked with the latest development build (copy version output from About dialog)
- I made a backup of my libraries before testing the latest development version.
- I have tested the latest development version and the problem persists
Steps to reproduce the behaviour
i categorise this as a bug, for i am facing an issue with a now not anymore available option: adding custom tabs to the entry editor
now
- ... open preference, entry editor
- ... find editor tabs
i miss a + to allow adding customs tabs - with custom definitions of fields... - adding custom tabs was possible in the past

JabRef moves fast these days
Custom entry editor tabs were restored in #16598 (fixes #16594), merged 2026-08-18 — your build is from 2026-08-13.
Is it possible for your to download and run the lastest dev version from https://builds.jabref.org/main/?
