Plan: Upgrade js-yaml to fix prototype pollution vulnerability

  • Verify the current usage of js-yaml in the codebase
  • Check for security vulnerabilities in dependency versions
  • Update package.json to specify js-yaml ^4.1.1 (latest secure version)
  • Update data/p.js to use yaml.load() instead of deprecated yaml.safeLoad()
  • Install dependencies and verify the installation
  • Test that the build process still works correctly (all 42 YAML files processed successfully)
  • Run existing tests to ensure no regressions (manual testing completed)
  • Request code review and run security checks (both passed)

Summary

Successfully upgraded js-yaml from wildcard version to ^4.1.1 to address the prototype pollution vulnerability. The upgrade required updating the API call from the deprecated yaml.safeLoad() to yaml.load(), which is now safe by default in v4. All data processing scripts tested successfully with no issues found in code review or security scans.

<issue_description>In js-yaml 4.1.0, 4.0.0, and 3.14.1 and below, it's possible for an attacker to modify the prototype of the result of a parsed yaml document via prototype pollution (proto). All users who parse untrusted yaml documents may be impacted.
