#63: Re-sync collector_gh adapter to the items rename + generated schema - #64
Conversation
- Updated documentation in __init__.py and compatibility.py to reflect ownership of the `doc-issues.json` contract by `living-doc-collector-gh`. - Changed references from `user_stories` to `items` in models.py, parser.py, and related tests to match the new schema. - Introduced new test fixtures for version 0.1.1 and updated existing fixtures for versions 1.0.0, 1.2.0, and 2.0.0 to use the `items` key. - Adjusted compatibility checks to account for the new minimum version of 0.1.1. - Modified AdapterResult and related tests to use `items` instead of `user_stories`. - Updated normalization service and builder to handle the new structure of parsed results.

WalkthroughThe collector-gh adapter now consumes the ChangesCollector contract and schema
Estimated code review effort: 3 (Moderate) | ~25 minutes Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to The adapter now accepts items-based collector input from 0.1.1 onward while preserving normalized user_stories output. Merge risk is low, but compatibility coverage should include every fixture and the stale range guidance should be corrected to avoid misleading future maintenance. Sequence Diagram(s)sequenceDiagram

🟡 Changes recommended
verifications/verify_compatibility.py introduces a new import inside a function (expected_warning_for), which conflicts with the repo’s “imports at module scope” rule and is straightforward to adjust.

Pull request overview
This PR re-syncs the collector_gh adapter (and downstream normalize-issues consumer) to the upstream collector-gh contract changes: the top-level array key rename from user_stories to items, and the now-generated doc-issues-v1.0.0-schema.json that this repo vendors as a consumer. It also corrects the producer-version compatibility floor to match collector-gh’s real released line while keeping the normalize-issues output contract (content.user_stories, schema_version: "1.0") unchanged.
Changes:
- Updated the adapter input contract consumption (
models.py,parser.py, vendored schema) to useitemsinstead ofuser_stories, including fixtures and tests. - Adjusted compatibility range to
>=0.1.1,<2.0.0, added a realistic0.1.1fixture, and improved compatibility verification to auto-discover fixture versions. - Updated documentation to reflect consumer-side schema ownership and the new compatibility policy.

Overview
living-doc-collector-ghPR #110 (merge commit50486b7) made two locked changes to thedoc-issues.jsoncontract:user_stories→items— one flat,source- and type-neutral array (the documentation type stays in each item's
tags,never a key or subclass).
doc-issues-v1.0.0-schema.jsonis now generated from collector-gh's own Pydanticmodels, so collector-gh is the schema and data producer; this repo's adapter is the
schema and data consumer.
Until this PR,
toolkit'spackages/adapters/collector_ghstill hard-requireduser_stories, soliving-doc normalize-issuesrejected every real post-#110 collectorpayload with
AdapterError: … Missing required key: 'user_stories'. This PR re-syncs theconsumer side. It is input-side only — the
normalize-issuesoutput(
pdf_ready.json,content.user_stories[],schema_version: "1.0") is unchanged, and thegolden verifications confirm byte-identical output.
What changed

Release Notes
living-doc normalize-issuesnow acceptsdoc-issues.jsonfiles produced byliving-doc-collector-gh≥ PR #110, where the top-level record array is nameditems(previously
