Advanced RHDS/389-DS Corruption Detection Script for sosreport Analysis #7907

Description

@rakkumar607

I've developed a comprehensive Python script to detect database corruption in 389-DS/RHDS installations by analyzing sosreport archives. This tool can help administrators and support engineers quickly identify corruption issues.

Features

  • Supports RHEL 8/9/10 and 389-DS 1.4.3.39+
  • Detects both Berkeley DB and LMDB corruption
  • Analyzes multiple corruption vectors:
    • BDB PANIC errors
    • LMDB corruption (MDB_CORRUPTED, page errors)
    • Recovery failures
    • Deadlocks and transaction errors
    • Memory corruption (segfaults, heap corruption)
    • Replication corruption (RUV, CSN, changelog)
    • Index corruption
    • Service crashes
  • Provides recovery recommendations based on backend type
  • Works with compressed sosreport archives

Usage

rhds_corruption_check.py

sample_output.txt

./rhds_corruption_check.py /path/to/sosreport.tar.xz

Benefits

  • Faster diagnosis - Automated analysis instead of manual log review
  • Comprehensive - Checks 14+ corruption indicators
  • Version-aware - Detects backend type and adjusts checks
  • Recovery guidance - Provides specific recovery steps
