Task Board v2.0.0-beta-1

This is the very beginning of the testing phase for the upcoming new series of Task Board, 2.x.x series. The first version in this series will be 2.0.0. To test this version before releasing it, will be releasing multiple beta versions like 2.0.0-beta-1, 2.0.0-beta-2, etc..., each beta version will have enhancements and bug fixes found in the previous beta version.

This testing phase is expected to go for around a month, and once it is found that there are no more bugs present in the beta version and everything is working as expected, will release the official version, 2.0.0.

The testing for beta version of 2.0.0, involves certain extra steps and is slightly different. Please read this docs to understand and follow the correct procedure to test this beta version properly : How to test 2.x.x beta versions | Task Board Docs.

New Features 🎁

• Board File : Every single board will be now stored inside a separate custom file with extension .taskboard and can be viewed as a separate Obsidian tab. | FR : A .taskboard file to store each board inside the vault #591

  • "Separate Obsidian tab for individual board" feature
• Multiple views : Each of the board can now contain multiple views of same type. | [FEATURE REQUEST] Allow user to create multiple views inside the same .taskboard file #723
• Combine board files : Merge multiple board files and create a single board files, combining all the views from those boards. | FR : Combine multiple board files into a single board file #783
• Secure map view data : Map view data will be now stored inside the respective board file instead of in LocalStorage making the data more secured and avoid loosing over overwrite when switching vaults.
• Views panel : Each board has been provided with an enhanced views panel on left in a drawer UI, which will show a lot of information about views present inside the board.
• End-to-end migration solution : To migrate from the previous series to this new version, a complete automatic solution has been implemented to help you with the migration process.

Deprecated 🚮

• No backward compatibility for using all boards inside same Obsidian tab view. As this new version of Task Board has undergone some architectural level changes, hence it will not be possible to support the older UI for storing all the boards data inside a single config file (data.json) and showing them as tabs inside a single Obsidian tab. However, with this new version you can still achieve the same looks using Task Board Views inside a board file with a much efficient architecture than ever before.

Other Changes 🔎

• Map view data will be only saved when user has finished with all the changes and while switching away from the view. Providing an optimized way to write the data.
• Renamed nodePositionWidth type to nodePositionData.
• Updated all development packages to the latest version.
• A huge amount of code structure refactoring for better understandability and for optimization.
• Reorganizes imports across codebase to use explicit .js extensions for ES modules and relative paths
