What do you use Folio for?

Folio started as a way to show my own photos without putting Immich on the internet. It has grown since — client proofing, a journal, content pages — and before it grows further I would like to know how you actually use it.

If you run Folio, I would love to hear:

• What is your site for? A portfolio, client proofing, a travel journal, a family site, something else?
• Roughly how big is it, and how do you host it (Docker, behind which proxy, CDN)?
• What would you miss if a feature disappeared — and what feels like too much?
• A link to your site, if you are happy to share it.

This helps me decide what belongs in Folio and what does not. The aim is to cover many ways of showing photos without turning into a CMS, and to stay read-only towards Immich wherever possible.

Bug reports still belong in Issues, and security reports go through the process in SECURITY.md.

Hi,
My use case is the following, I am living abroad with my girlfriend.
So I am using Folio to share photos with my family and to give a little bit more context than with a simple album.
I love the fact it's an hybrid between a journal and a shared photo album.

I hosted it behind cloudflare tunnel on docker

I would miss journal, map, password protection for website, french translation (for my parents).

I would like to add new feature like sharing only some part of an album (set with filter) on a subpage, add photos from an album in a journal without adding the full album, select different tiles on maps...
But honestly, it's the closest thing from what I was looking for.

Thanks, that's really nice to hear! Sharing photos with family abroad, with a bit more story than a plain album, is exactly what I had in mind for the journal and the map.

Showing only part of an album on a subpage isn't possible yet. What works today is a second album in Immich with just the photos you want to show. Immich albums only point to the assets, so nothing gets copied. What did you have in mind with "set with filter"? Picking photos by hand, or something like a date range, a person or a place? The second would be a bigger change, so I'd like to hear a bit more before writing it up.

Oh, and since you're behind a Cloudflare Tunnel: check that TRUSTED_PROXY_HOPS is set (deployment.md). Otherwise the rate limits on the password forms take the client IP from a header anyone can set.

Yes my ideas was mainly to be able to set date range or location to avoid making to much album in immich. Since its shared album I don't want to forced my relatives to manage to much albums
