LabCAS Download Metrics

Including download metrics that are already being captured, please include file sizes, # of data files, # of datasets, # of collections

@hoodriverheather when a user downloads something, that person downloads a file. We currently log each individual file download with three data points: date/time-stamp, user who downloaded the file, and the file ID (separated by semicolons).

From that we can derive the dataset(s) and collections each file belongs to.

We could then keep a tally count of those things, which would answer # of datasets, # of collections, and (of course), # of files. Is that the kind of metric Dan wants to see?

Maybe something like:

- Total # of data files downloaded: 1,234,567
- Total # of datasets downloaded: 4,312
- Total # of collections downloaded: 7

Followed by the log of individual files:

The numbers 431925, 139315, 59124 are new for this and would be the file sizes.

Also: no one has ever asked for the log of individual files so far. Is it really important?

Maybe the aggregated metrics are better, something like:

- Total # of collections downloaded: 7
- Total # of datasets downloaded: 4,312
- Total # of data files downloaded: 1,234,567
- Total bytes downloaded: 43 GB
- Unique users downloading files: 7
