Is it possible to run qsv as a linter on multiple files?

I'd like to use qsv, particularly the validate command, over all TSV files in a particular directory.

Based on my reading of the docs, I suppose this isn't possible. But maybe I missed something? Is this feature supported by qsv?

Yes. There are several commands that have Extended Input Support and can process multiple files, an .infile-list (newline separated list of files) or even a directory as input.

However, validate is not one of them and can only validate one file at a time.

validate now has Extended Input Support and can validate:

• multiple files
• if given a directory, all the files in the directory
• if given an infile.list - a list of newline separate files
• with auto-decompression

hey @jqnatividad, thanks for this, I wanted to try it out but it seems to not be available in Homebrew.

I run brew reinstall qsv and brew upgrade qsv, but I still get v7.1.0 - not v8.0.0

brew uninstall qsv, download the zip, extract the one you want, and then qsv -U once in a while.

As per @ondohotola's suggestion, the prebuilts are better than the Homebrew package:

• they're compiled with CPU optimization enabled for maximum performance
• they have all the applicable features for the platform enabled, Homebrew only enables a subset
• it has self-update enabled
  • to check for a new upgrade, qsv will check 20% of the time when ran without any parameters if there's a new release
  • an upgrade is just an qsv --updatenow (or qsv -U) away
  • the self-update images are zip-signed - you can be confident they have not been corrupted
