We’re excited to share the latest releases and enhancements across our services. Here's what's new:

Explore an enriched DataCite Metadata Store with REST API querying and harvesting tools

• Enriched DOI records can now be retrieved through the DataCite REST API as part of DOI list responses, opening up new ways to explore an enriched version of the entire DataCite Metadata Store.
• When retrieving a list of DOIs, set the parameter enriched=true to retrieve a list of DOI records with enrichments applied. DOI records with enrichments will appear with enriched values, and DOI records without applicable enrichments will appear the same way they do when the enriched=true parameter is not set. Pagination, filter, and query features supported by the REST API are also supported when enriched=true, enabling a robust toolset for finding and retrieving enriched DOI metadata.

More improvements

• When creating or updating a repository account in Fabrica, the required software field now supports free text, allowing you to precisely describe your integration when it can’t be found in the provided list. The suggested options are drawn from the list of integrations supported by Registered Service Providers. Accurately indicating your repository software helps us provide more targeted support and understand which integrations are in use.
• We’ve updated DataCite Fabrica to make the UI more accessible, including improvements to page structure, color contrast, and more. Accessibility updates across DataCite’s services are an ongoing effort and we welcome feedback on accessibility at any time. For more information, see our accessibility statement.
• We fixed a bug that resulted in the affiliation=false parameter being ignored in REST API requests. This is in preparation for the upcoming change to the affiliation and publisher default responses, which will take effect in September 2027. Users who don’t want their responses to change can add affiliation=false and publisher=false to their requests.
• When clicking REST API links in the Metadata Dashboard, affiliation and publisher information is included by default. This makes it easier to see the full DOI metadata record when investigating metadata quality and completeness.
• We removed an info box on Repository pages in DataCite Commons that guided users to the displayed repository to deposit data. This was misleading for some repositories and has become less relevant to other functions of Repository pages, like investigating DOIs and metrics.
• We fixed a bug to restore the option for Consortium Members to delete their Consortium Organizations if needed in Fabrica.
