Version 1.1 — May 2026
By contributing to any repository under the billion-token-one-task organization, you agree to the following terms.
You retain full copyright ownership of your contributions. This agreement does not transfer ownership — it grants a license.
You grant the founding organization a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, distribute, and commercialize your contributions, including as part of proprietary products and services.
This grant covers all contributions made to repositories within this organization, including code, documentation, experimental results, and research artifacts.
You may freely use your own contributions for any academic purpose — including theses, dissertations, academic publications, portfolios, and further research — without restriction.
If you received project resources (compute, API access, funding, or other material support from the founding organization):
- All research outputs must first be disclosed within the project's repositories.
- Before submitting results for external publication, you provide the founding organization 90 days' notice to coordinate on timing, co-authorship, and any related commercial considerations.
If you did not receive project resources but your work builds on the project's unpublished intermediate results:
- You notify the founding organization 30 days before external publication, as a courtesy to allow coordination.
These windows are for coordination, not censorship. The founding organization will not unreasonably withhold consent to publish.
Resources provided by the founding organization (compute, API keys, data access) are to be used for the agreed-upon research within this organization. Using these resources to develop competing products or to benefit a third party without prior written consent is a violation of this agreement.
Any disputes regarding contribution attribution, intellectual property, or interpretation of this agreement are resolved by the founding organization, based on the recorded contribution history in the project's repositories.
For contributions submitted via the short-cycle community proposal track (≤10 days, single contributor), the founding organization commits to co-authorship credit on any publication that materially incorporates the contribution, per standard academic attribution norms.
By opening a pull request or committing code to any repository in this organization, you indicate that you have read and agree to this Contributor License Agreement.
If your employer or university may have a claim on your contributions, please ensure you have the necessary permissions before contributing.
