Allow IC to run in "offline" mode in Firebase.

Firebase has the ability to run in "offline" (ie, local-only) mode, as far as I know. This would be akin to the old localStorage approach. This could give some people more peace of mind.

It seems Firebase only has an in-memory cache, not an offline cache (per say). But, Firebase has some beta product called Firestore - https://firebase.google.com/docs/firestore/manage-data/enable-offline . This might be something worth looking into.
