GZDoom's settings are pretty messy and, it's hard to make heads or tails from them as someone new who's trying to get into dooming.

Describe the solution you'd like

Have a Config-preset Manager with some default presets bundled (such as "Classic" for vanilla-like gameplay and "Modern" for modern controls) included in by default. And, if possible, hide away some of the extra options entirely and make them accessible through the command-line instead.

Describe alternatives you've considered

Having to juggle between different config files can be a solution, but it's not an ideal one to say the least.

an in-game preset system is good yes (and has been planned for a good while, but not added yet), but the extra options is the entire reason for why there's a simple and a full options menu, no need to hide them entirely from the gui

Speaking of the options menu, VkDoon features one that was majorly restructured
Many people told me it was a lot better so I'd like to port this over. It does ditch the simplified menu, though, because ultimately it is very user specific which option is needed and which isn't - and the most frequent criticism about the simple version is that the choices weren't well made.

If the next version really becomes 5.0 I think it's the best time to put it in now.
