Can't get manual install to work

Followed instructions in the README. I already had the old author's plugin so I just updated it. Still getting the same issue. old folders show, but cant be edited. Cant make any new folders.

I'd recommend trying the following:

• Navigate to the 'plugins' folder on your flash drive
  • unRAID UI:
    Flash -> Config -> Plugins
  • Terminal:
    /boot/config/plugins
• Locate the folder.view plugins folder and save the following files:
  • config\plugins\folder.view\docker.json
  • config\plugins\folder.view\vm.json
• Completely uninstall the old folder view plugin
• Follow the steps and redo the manual installation
• overwrite the docker.json and vm.json files with the ones you backed up earlier.

From there, your folder view plugin should be back to working conditions. If that doesn't remediate it, it might be how you're going about the manual installation, or there's a rouge copy of the plugin on your system that could be causing your issues (this is unlikely, but not impossible).

Alternatively, follow the backup guide for exporting your current settings as outlined in the doc.

Uninstall the plugin.
Plugins -> Install Plugin

use the URL to the file, no reason to manually jump through hoops with file management.

@DetectiveSquirrel: Unfortunately this doesn't work for me.
If I try to install the plugin by using the URL I get the following error:

plugin: XML file doesn't exist or xml parse error
Executing hook script: post_plugin_checks

Upload the file as stated in the readme, to /boot/plugins and then install it via Plugin Intall tab. The Url is not working because Unraid is expecting to get an XML installation file when using URL.
