Describe the bug

Hello,

I can't get integrated players such as "ExoPlayer" or "VLC" to work on my Android TV.
TV Sony "KD-65XD9305", Android-TV V.7.0, (Build : "SVP4KDTV15_EU-user 7.0").

ExoPlayer is showing error :

"Exo can't play video :
Source error:javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException:Trust anchor for certification path not found".

When trying with VLC, I get :

"VLC can't play video :
Playback error".

Stremio version : 1.9.12.
Exo Version : 1.9.3.
VLC Version : 3.6.5.

I Tried :

  • "Hardware-accelerated decoding" = True or False,
  • "Experimental ExoPlayer Libass support" = True or False.
  • Different kinds of content formats, from different sources, (4K HDR, 1080p)...

Only way for me to play videos from Stremio is to play through Kodi external player.

To Reproduce

  1. Try on an Android-TV V.7.0.
  2. Play video content from Stremio v.1.9.12 with ExoPlayer or VLC.

Expected behavior

ExoPlayer will show error :

"Exo can't play video :
Source error:javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException:Trust anchor for certification path not found".
