In #340 (comment) @alperaltuntas suggested using deferred-length strings for the updated iron forcing files. This is a great suggestion, but should also be applied to other strings (initial condition file name, river nutrient forcing file name, and perhaps others as well). Doing it right will take it out of the scope of #340, so I'll work on it in a future PR
