git mkdir git_dir				make new directory
cd git_dir						navigate to new directory
git init 						initializes new dir to track changes

git add filename.csv			adds file to stage
git status						shows files ready for commit
git reset						removes files from stage
git commit -m "comment"			commits files from stage to local repository
git log							shows all commits ever made

git push						pushes from local repo to remote repo
git pull						pulls from remote to local
git clone						clone repository

1)local directory  ->  2)stage ->  3)local repo  ->  4)remote repo

1 -> 2  	git add [filename]
2 -> 1		git reset
2 -> 3		git commit [-m "comment"]
3 -> 4		git push
4 -> 3		git pull


connecting to a new repository:
create repository on github.com
create folder with same name on computer and navigate to said folder
git init
git add example.r (should already exist in folder)
git commit -m 'first commit'
git remote add origin https://githum.com/emchristensen/whatever.git
git push -u origin master

or just:
git clone https://github.com/emchristensen/whatever.git
